Ms. Beverly James has over thirty years experience as a Public Health nurse with a concentration in geriatrics and home care. After receiving her Bachelors of Science in Nursing degree from Adelphi University, Ms. James went on to become a Certified Counselor in psychiatry and a Certified Adult Nurse Care Practitioner. She is also a founding member of the Senior Umbrella Network of Nassau (SUNN), a senior citizen advocacy group. Ms. James is dedicated to being a patient educator and advocate.
While serving as Nursing Supervisor to another home care agency on Long Island, she met Ms. Osborne. Their shared philosophy and aspirations culminated in a partnership and in the creation of Long Island Care At Home (LICAH).
Ms. James is very active in her community, serving as a member of the Uniondale Board of Education for the last twelve years in the positions of President and Vice-President. She is also a lifetime member of the National PTA and a founding member, and past Board member, of the Friends of the Uniondale Library.
As a healthcare professional, Ms. James is a member of the Board of the Roosevelt Mental Health Center for Drug and Alcohol Counseling and Treatment Center. Her civic endeavors include membership in Rotary International and Co-Cub Master to Boy Scout Pack 390 of Uniondale.
An engaged member of St. George’s Episcopal Church in Hempstead, Ms. James serves on its Vestry as a Eucharistic Minister and Director of the Altar Guild, as well as Chair of the Education Committee.
Ms. James has received numerous awards throughout her career for accomplishments in the areas of health and education, along with recognitions in the community arena.
Ms. James is widowed and the mother of two children.
Maryann Osborne is the co-founder and Chief Financial Officer of Long Island Care At Home, LTD (LICAH). Maryann has over twenty years of experience in the home health industry. Prior to co-founding LICAH, she served as Comptroller for another home health care agency on Long Island. Her background and expertise in finance has served her well in other entrepreneurial business pursuits.
Maryann and her partner, Beverly James, share a philosophy of offering quality care to their patients through caregivers who are well credentialed, responsible, compassionate and knowledgeable professionals. This same professionalism carries over to Maryann’s service in the community. An active member of the Patchogue Chamber of Commerce and former member of Bellport and East Meadow Chambers of Commerce, she has held a leadership role in many of the activities the chambers have sponsored. Maryann has also been active in the Village of Patchogue, where she was the Technical Director for a Public Access TV program and chaired a Bridal Showcase for the Village as a promotion.
Maryann set out in 1992 to create an agency that would provide the highest level of care and service to Long Islanders in need of home health care. She provides the agency with strong leadership and vision to enable its growth and to ensure outstanding customer service. The entire staff at LICAH is dedicated to accomplish her vision.
In her leisure time, Maryann enjoys the company of her three grandchildren.
